HYDERABAD: The High Court on Monday directed the Superintendent of Institute of Mental Health, Erragada, here, to examine and submit a report to the court on the condition of the boy who suffered at the hands of his seniors at the Vedapathasala run by the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati, and the relief it planned provide to him. A Division Bench comprise Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P. V. Sanjay Kumar was dealing with a taken up writ petition which was initiated based upon a letter written by V. Padmavathi, chairperson, child welfare committee, Ranga Reddy district, to the Chief Justice. Joined in 2008 She said that the boy (name being withheld) joined the Vedic school in 2008 and was abused by his seniors following which the TTD paid him compensation. She said that he had not yet recovered and the TTD has an obligation to make some permanent arrangement for him as he was traumatised. The standing counsel for the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams contended that the TTD was not averse to helping the boy but felt that this must be based upon some rational criteria. The Bench called for a report from the superintendent of the institute and appointed P. Naveen Rao, advocate, to assist the court and posted the case to February 13.
